Meet Danae

Homeschooled Theater Kid Turned Writing Expert

Hi, I’m Danae!

I have been in the writing and tutoring world for 7+ years, and I have a strong passion for connecting with learners and strengthening their relationship with writing!

I am queer, plus-sized, and disabled, and all three have played a huge role in my passion for inclusivity. I always want to create a safe space where everyone feels safe and heard.

When I am not writing, tutoring, or barista-ing, you can find me embroidering, watching Gilmore Girls, or hanging out with my fluffy 10-year-old kitty, Meredith. I also dabble in fiction and poetry writing whenever inspiration sparks!

Projects I can help you with:

  • Research papers
  • Thesis Papers
  • Lab Reports
  • Short Stories
  • Literature Reviews
  • Technical Writing
  • Resumes and Cover Letters
  • Personal Statements and Application Essays
  • Social Media Content
  • And Much More!

Basically, anything that involves writing, I am happy to help!

More About Danae

My Path To Writing

Writing wasn’t always a passion of mine; in fact, it often made me cry through middle school. My English class was more stressful than helpful, and I dreaded my writing assignments, often procrastinating and breaking down the night before they were due.

Things changed when I enrolled in PSEO and took college classes in high school. Professor Heide’s empathetic and enthusiastic approach in my writing composition class showed me that writing didn’t have to be scary—it could even be a passion!

My love for writing deepened at Bemidji State University, where I pursued Professional and Creative Writing. Professor Gibbon taught me that “All first drafts are good,” encouraging me to let go of my inner critic and embrace imperfect first drafts—a lesson I still remind myself of today!

My Path to Tutoring

In high school, Math was another course that brought tears to my eyes. Thankfully, my mom found a wonderful math tutor, Jan.

Jan actually made math enjoyable, recognizing when I was overwhelmed or needed more time to understand a concept. I definitely drew inspiration from Jan’s empathetic tutoring style when I became a peer writing tutor at Bemidji State.

After college, I was hired at Content Cucumber as an assistant writing tutor and worked my way toward lead editor, managing a team of 15 writers. My favorite part of the job was always helping writers discover their voices, and become independent, confident writers.

Why I’m a Tutor

I’ve experienced the power of one-on-one learning throughout my education and I know how the right type of education can transform how someone learns. I want to create a low-stress space so that writing doesn’t have to be a dreaded subject, and those with a passion for writing have a space to grow!

As a writing tutor, my goal is to always help learners feel seen and understood, and make writing a positive experience. I am so excited to create a space that nurtures growth and welcomes imperfection along the way, just as Jan, Heide, and Gibbon did for me!
